A Semidiscrete Scheme for a Penrose{fife System and Some Stefan Problems in R 3

چکیده
This paper is concerned with the Penrose{Fife phase{ eld model and some Stefan problems, in which the heat ux is proportional to the gradient of the inverse absolute temperature. Recently, Colli and Sprekels proved that, as some parameters in the Penrose{Fife equations tend to zero, the corresponding solutions converge against the solutions to these Stefan problems. Following their approach, we derive a time{discrete scheme for the Penrose{Fife equations, such that analogous convergence properties hold. Furthermore, we show some error estimates and prove the existence of solutions to the scheme.

On a Penrose { Fife Model with Zero Interfacial EnergyLeading
In this paper we study an initial{boundary value Stefan{type problem with phase relaxation where the heat ux is proportional to the gradient of the inverse absolute temperature. This problem arises naturally as limiting case of the Penrose{Fife model for diiusive phase transitions with non{conserved order parameter if the coeecient of the interfacial energy is taken as zero. It is shown that th...

An asymptotic limit of a class of Cahn–Hilliard systems is investigated to obtain a general nonlinear diffusion equation. The target diffusion equation may reproduce a number of well-known model equations: Stefan problem, porous media equation, Hele-Shaw profile, nonlinear diffusion of singular logarithmic type, nonlinear diffusion of Penrose–Fife type, fast diffusion equation and so on. Namely...
متن کاملGlobal Solution to the Penrose - Fife Phase - FieldModel With Zero Interfacial Energy
In this paper we study a system of eld equations of Penrose-Fife type governing the dynamics of phase transitions with a nonconserved order parameter. In many recent contributions on this subject, the heat ux law has been assumed in the form q = r(1= ) . In contrast to that, here we consider the (more realistic) case of the Fourier law when q is proportional to the negative gradient r of the (a...

متن کاملSharp interface control in a Penrose–Fife model
In this paper we study a singular control problem for a system of PDEs describing a phasefield model of Penrose-Fife type. The main novelty of this contribution consists in the idea of forcing a sharp interface separation between the states of the system by using heat sources distributed in the domain and at the boundary. We approximate the singular cost functional with a regular one, which is ...
